HBO has officially announced that The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on April 13, 2025. The highly anticipated season will continue the story of Joel and Ellie, adapting the events of The Last of Us: Part II, the sequel to the hit PlayStation video game.
What to Expect in Season 2
Following a five-year time jump, the new season sees Joel and Ellie navigating an even more dangerous world filled with terrifying “clickers” and hostile factions. Their journey will take them into uncharted emotional and physical battles, with the stakes higher than ever.
New and Returning Cast Members
Season 2 will introduce several new characters from the game’s sequel, including:
- Kaitlyn Dever as Abby – A fierce soldier with a complex past.
- Isabela Merced as Dina – Ellie’s love interest.
- Young Mazino as Jesse – A loyal friend to Ellie and Dina.
- Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny – Key members of Abby’s group.
- Catherine O’Hara will also make a guest appearance in a mystery role.
- Jeffrey Wright reprises his video game role as Isaac, the leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a powerful faction in Seattle.
Behind the Scenes
The series is led by showrunners Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us video game. Both will return as writers, executive producers, and directors for Season 2.
