Jenny Slate reportedly filed a Human Resources (HR) complaint during the filming of “It Ends With Us” due to an allegedly “uncomfortable” interaction with Wayfarer Studios President, Jamey Heath. The revelation comes just days after lead actress Blake Lively amended her lawsuit, claiming that multiple women, including herself, experienced discomfort on the set.
Jenny Slate’s Alleged Complaint Against Jamey Heath
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Slate, who is a stand-up comedian and actress, filed a complaint with the film’s distributor, Sony, regarding a conversation she had with Heath. The discussion reportedly revolved around her dissatisfaction with the apartment she had rented in New York City while filming. Slate allegedly expressed her reluctance to move due to the $15,000 security deposit she had already paid.
Heath, in response, reportedly offered her reimbursement for relocation but allegedly did so using language that Slate found unsettling. Sources suggest that the conversation involved Heath focusing intensely on her role as a mother and the sanctity of motherhood, which made the actress uncomfortable.
Although Slate’s name was previously redacted from court documents referencing the complaint, the recent report has confirmed her involvement.
Blake Lively’s Allegations and Legal Battle
Earlier this week, Blake Lively, who plays the lead role in “It Ends With Us,” filed an amended lawsuit where she stated that she “was not alone in complaining” about co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Her lawsuit alleged that multiple women, including herself, experienced inappropriate behavior on set.
The legal documents included messages from Lively dating back to May 2023, in which she reportedly expressed discomfort with Baldoni and Heath’s actions. In one of her messages, Lively wrote, “It’s like HR nuts today. The both of them. I wasn’t expecting that turn. I mean it’s been present but today I came home and cried.”
Another text allegedly described Baldoni and Heath as “creeps,” with Lively stating, “Like keep your hormones to yourselves. This is not mine. I don’t want it. I don’t want your gaze or words or tongue or videos of your naked wife. Yeah. It’s shocking. Clowns.”
Within three days of Lively’s complaint, another female cast member, whose identity remains undisclosed, also filed a formal complaint. It is unclear if Jenny Slate was that cast member, but her HR complaint further supports the claims of discomfort among women on set.
Baldoni’s Defense and Legal Counterclaims
In response to Lively’s accusations, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, dismissed her claims, stating that the lawsuit “is filled with unsubstantial hearsay of unnamed persons who are clearly no longer willing to come forward or publicly support her claims.”
He further added, “Since documents do not lie and people do, the upcoming depositions of those who initially supported Ms. Lively’s false claims and those who are witnesses to her own behavior will be enlightening. What is truly uncomfortable here is Ms. Lively’s lack of actual evidence.”
Baldoni has since counter-sued Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and extortion. Additionally, he has taken legal action against The New York Times over its coverage of Lively’s allegations.
Jenny Slate’s Support for Blake Lively
Amid the legal turmoil, Jenny Slate has publicly voiced her support for Blake Lively. In December 2024, she told Today, “As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation.”
Slate further described Lively as “a leader, loyal friend, and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.” She went on to call the “attack on Blake” as “terribly dark, disturbing, and wholly threatening. I commend my friend, I admire her bravery, and I stand by her side.”
Upcoming Trial and Film Release
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni is set to go to trial in March 2026. Meanwhile, “It Ends With Us,” which is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name, is scheduled for an August 2024 release.
As the controversy continues, the film industry will be closely watching the developments surrounding these allegations and how they impact the release and reception of the movie.
