Hollywood’s biggest daredevil, Tom Cruise, has once again pushed the boundaries of action filmmaking—this time with a death-defying aerial stunt in the upcoming Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Tom Cruise’s Most Intense Stunt Yet

The 61-year-old actor, known for performing his own stunts, recently revealed that he physically passed out while filming a high-speed aerial sequence for the latest Mission: Impossible installment, set to hit theaters this May.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Cruise described the extreme conditions he faced while hanging onto a 1930s biplane mid-flight.

“When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen,” Cruise explained. “I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.”

The film’s writer and director, Christopher McQuarrie, also teased that fans should prepare for some of the wildest stunts ever filmed.

“There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain,” McQuarrie said. “Tom would go out and do something that topped anything he had ever done before.”

Not the First Time Cruise Risked It All

This isn’t the first time Cruise has put his life on the line for a Mission: Impossible film.

In Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), he performed a HALO jump—a high-altitude, low-opening parachute jump typically done by military special forces.

The stunt required him to jump from 25,000 feet, a height so extreme that a specialized oxygen helmet had to be designed to keep him from losing consciousness.

“We only got one take a day,” Cruise recalled. “If there was one mistake, that was it. The take was gone.”

Reports suggest Cruise jumped over 100 times to get the perfect shot!
