COIN, the Nashville-based pop-rock trio, has officially disbanded following shocking revelations about its members. Frontman Chase Lawrence announced the news on January 28, stating that recent discoveries about his bandmates’ actions conflicted with his values.
Lawrence shared the update through a statement on COIN’s official Instagram, writing, “I believe in accountability and doing what’s right.” He expressed his devastation over the situation, apologizing to fans for the sudden breakup.
The Reason Behind the Split
Just weeks before this announcement, COIN had already undergone a significant lineup change. Drummer Ryan Winnen departed earlier this month, citing “personal matters.” Now, guitarist Joe Memmel has also been let go.
“Three months ago, I made the decision to move forward without my drummer, and yesterday, I parted ways with my guitarist,” Lawrence revealed. “Their behaviors directly conflict with my values, and I am devastated for anyone who has been affected by these actions.”
While specific details remain unclear, it’s evident that internal conflicts played a major role in COIN’s unexpected end.
COIN’s Musical Legacy
COIN was formed in 2012 and gained mainstream attention with their 2016 breakout hit, “Talk Too Much”, which peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay Chart. Over the years, the band released five studio albums, including I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore (2024).
Lawrence emphasized that COIN’s mission was always to create a “space for love and joy through music.” However, the recent revelations compromised that vision, making it impossible for the band to continue.
What’s Next for Chase Lawrence?
Although COIN has officially disbanded, Lawrence hinted at continuing his musical career. “There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet,” he assured fans.
The band has canceled all upcoming tour dates, and refunds will be available at the original point of purchase.
While COIN’s journey has come to an end, their music and impact will undoubtedly remain with fans. Stay tuned for updates on Chase Lawrence’s next steps in the industry.
